SQP Revenue – Leaf Rust Susceptibility Update (July 2016)
July 11, 2016Ongoing Rust Susceptibility trials at the University of Sydney have determined that SQP Revenue is now rated as susceptible – very susceptible (S-VS) to the new Leaf Rust (104) pathotype. Reports from Tasmania, Bairnsdale and the Western Districts this season confirm that Revenue will show this leaf rust early in the season (when the weather is warmer). Seed treatments and crop monitoring are essential to ensure Revenue gets off to a clean start each season. July 11, 2016Numurkah Irrigated NVT Main Season Trial – 2015 Results (Snapshot) GrainSearch’s Manning and Beaufort Wheats performed exceptionally well at the NVT Numurkah (NE Victoria) Irrigated Main Season wheat site in 2015. Beaufort (long season, red-grained feed wheat) continues to show great adaptability – being able to be one of the top yielding lines in dryland and irrigated situations, over a wide sowing window from Late April to End of May. Russian Wheat Aphid spreads into Victoria
June 24, 2016Confirmed reports show that Russian Wheat Aphid (RWA) has spread into parts of Victoria in early 2016. RWA affects cereals through their direct feeding on the plant. They also inject a toxin that causes the plant to wilt and striping symptoms on the leaves also appear soon after. Once the RWA is controlled, the plants can generally recover – unlike some of the virus’ spread by aphids (eg Barley Yellow Dwarf Virus). 2015 NVT Sites Harvest commenced
November 30, 2015The 2015 NVT sites have commenced harvest. The Barley sites from Qld, NSW, SA and northern Victoria have been completed and a few of the Vic Wimmera/Mallee wheat sites have also been harvested. GrainSearch is compiling the results as they come in, to assess the performance of our lines currently entered into a range of sites.
